Inspired by vacations to Italy...

This property was discovered nearly 25 years ago by the present owners when they were looking for real estate in Southern NH. They purchased it because of its private yet accessible location with expansive views and close proximity to everything from restaurants to airports. Inspired by vacations to Italy, the home was renovated and expanded upon to become a villa that could host both large and intimate gatherings of family and friends.

The Views

As you approach the home, the views begin. The long-range views overlooking local towns and villages and into Massachusetts is spectacular. Fireworks can be watched in over 15 towns and can be seen as far as Hampton Beach on the seacoast! Lounge by the pool and watch the sunset or look up on a starry night and count the constellations. The New England seasons provide a constantly changing backdrop making these views unforgettable and enduring.

Accessible By Helicopter

There is a flat area next to the garage, which has been used as a helipad.

Clinker Bricks

The brick facade of the villa incorporates clinker bricks. These unique bricks, once thought to be secondary, are now prized and utilized by premier architects and builders.

In the early 20th century, architects saw these unique bricks and began incorporating them into their designs. Popularized by the architectural firm of Greene and Greene in California during the Arts and Crafts movement, these bricks became recognized for their qualities of being misshapen which gave more architectural intrigue. These once accidentally made bricks are now purposefully made by overheating them during the firing process, causing them to lack uniformity and make a “clinking” sound when they are banged together, hence their name.

At Reflection Point, the owners repurposed and incorporated the clinker brick into the design on the home’s facade and in some of the garden walkways, lending an old-world architectural style.

Antique Architectural Elements

In expanding and renovating the home, the owners understood the importance of incorporating antique architectural elements throughout to enhance the old-world feel of the villa.

Some of the items include:

  • 19th-century mahogany doors from a cigar parlor in NYC

  • Antique iron balcony and railings from a hotel in Newport, RI, and New York City in the primary bedroom and guest house

  • 19th-century stone columns from a mansion in Newport, RI, used in pergolas and garden folly

  • Limestone fireplace surround
